Heirs to the synth-pop throne, Ladytron, are finishing up their new album according to Side-Line.

“Liverpool’s Ladytron have two more weeks to go in Paris together with co-producer Andy Vicarious Bliss (signed to Ed Banger Records) to finish up their newest album, their 4th to date and the follow-up to 2005’s “Witching Hour”. The band is recording in the Studio de la Grande Armée where such legends as Francoise Hardy recorded her late 70s albums and where Duran Duran recorded their break through release “Rio”.

The new, yet to be titled, album is set to be released in May of 2008. Their last album, 2005’s spectacular “Witching Hour”, was one of the best things to happen to the dance floor that year. A deliciously dark slice of electronic music that represented a quantum leap from their previous releases. So I have high hopes for this forthcoming album.

2008 is shaping up to be a good year for those who follow “darker” musical paths, with new releases coming from Bauhaus, A Silver Mt. Zion, Deadfly Ensemble, Mirabilis, and Ladytron (among others). Truly an embarrassment of riches.
